Dollar General Literacy Foundation Donation

by Founder on 09/27/15

We at Future Unleashed would like to extend a special thanks to the Dollar General Literacy Foundation for awarding us a grant in support of our summer literacy program.  With their help, we were able to:  purchase two laptops (literacy and phonics software), two full-size dry-erase boards (with markers and erasers), two printers and refill cartridges per, over 800 reading books, print paper, notebooks, pencils, and materials for our science project; fund trips to Raleigh's downtown museums and to the North Carolina Zoo; prevent summer reading loss and facilitate significant growth for 83 students; teach 33 rising Kindergarten students to read for the first time; help our middle and high school students understand context/keywords in math word problems and the elements of the scientific method; and establish a year-round literacy program for 30 select students.

Our summer literacy program was only made possible through Dollar General Literacy Foundation's generosity, and, with their support, our program was a huge success.

On behalf of Future Unleashed and all of the children we serve:  Thank you, Dollar General Literacy Foundation!
